Short Story by Holly White
The human condition is all of the characteristics and key events that compose the essentials of human existence, including birth, growth, emotion, aspiration, conflict, and mortality
We are defined by the way the universe treats us; how our experience of failure, success, trauma etc. aids in shaping our entire being, creating the person that we are. It is our wants and needs that creates the narrative of our life and provides others with even the tiniest snippet of what we have become. It’s an inevitability that we can’t escape and yet we use this to our advantage; freckling the world with our eccentric individuality.
The array of human emotion that exists is immeasurable. From happy to sad to angry, every feeling imaginable pours from our bodies throughout our existence. An often uncontrollable reflex that truly reveals the extent of our deeper understanding. It is the initial insight into one another’s minds. Its complexity is the beauty of being human, a feat where we allow ourselves to exchange our personal and hidden realities.
Whether it is visible or invisible to the human eye, the emotional extremities we feel grows as we fall in sync with time. It begins to physicalise, exposing the disruption that takes place within us, sometimes which we don’t want to be seen. The human condition hands us the opportunity of connection and yet it will always be our greatest traitor.
